The Lung Institute at Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix provides highly specialized care to patients battling an array of chronic, advanced and obstructive lung diseases. Pulmonologists, cardiologists, thoracic surgeons, respiratory therapists, pathologists and other health care experts collectively tailor treatment plans that may include medical, surgical and other therapies to treat everything from asthma to lung cancer.

Our unique, fully integrated care model allows us to participate in industry-leading research efforts that give our patients access to the latest treatments for lung disease. We incorporate the most advanced tools available to treat chronic lung disease.

How to make an appointment:

  1. Your physician can refer you to one of our Lung Institute Centers or you can make your appointment directly.
  2. Before beginning your treatment, our team of physicians and nurses will conduct a thorough evaluation and review your health and medical history.
  3. Tests may be conducted to help determine the cause of the condition leading to your symptoms.
  4. The Lung Institute staff will work with you and your physician to help develop a treatment program based on your individualized needs. Your progress will also be documented and adjusted accordingly to meet your goals.

The Lung Institute unites the local community of pulmonologists in the Phoenix area with Banner Health’s academic medicine pulmonary care team At the Lung Institute at Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix, we provide comprehensive care for:

  • Advanced lung disease
  • Lung cancer
  • Obstructive lung diseases (COPD, asthma, A1ATd, and bronchiectasis)
  • Pulmonary fibrosis

In addition, we provide testing such as pulmonary function, cardiopulmonary exercise, and lab testing onsite in our clinics so patients do not need to go to multiple locations.

The University of Arizona, in coordination with Banner – University Medicine, conducts a variety ofresearch studies and clinical trialsto support a commitment to improving patient care. As a patient at Banner – University Medical Center, you may be eligible to participate, meaning you’ll have access to new treatments, which may not yet be available to the public.

The care team members of the Lung Institute provide multiple lectures locally in the Phoenix area, regionally in Arizona and the Southwest US, nationally, and internationally each year regarding various pulmonary-related topics.
