Hospitalists
Banner Desert Medical Center and Banner Children’s at Desert provide in-house hospitalist coverage for patients. Hospitalists provide acute inpatient care 24/7, assisting providers on admission and discharge, as well as coordinating care for inpatients during their hospital stay.

Medical Staff Services provides administrative support to the Banner Desert Medical Center/Banner Children's at Desert Staff and facilitates communication related to medical staff matters

CPAI is the new name for the division formerly known as Quality Management, re-focusing the work to ensure that Banner’s expected clinical practices, defined and designed by Clinical Consensus Groups, are implemented and effective at all our sites, and that improvement opportunities are identified and addressed. Analyzes incidents, sentinel events, and risk outcomes with administrators, physicians, clinical leaders, and staff to identify improvement opportunities utilizing quantitative techniques and knowledge of health care operations and systems thinking. Obtains and uses literature, best practice, and benchmark data whenever possible. Manages significant clinical event and root cause analysis, including peer review, process improvement, tracking and reporting of processes, policies and procedures. Eliminate sources of error: identify causes of variation, develop and implement systems and processes to facilitate effective clinical practice and error reduction. CPAI ensures and supports integration and standardization of process across the organization. Establishes and oversees the development and implementation of short- and long-range goals and objectives and determines the optimal progression to obtain these goals. Reviews, analyses, and reports of various activities to determine progress toward goals and objectives. Serves as a content expert for designing and providing formal and informal training for physicians, clinical leaders, staff, and other constituencies related to healthcare quality and performance improvement. Provides advice and counsel for leadership at all levels of the organization. Provides leadership to assure compliance with federal and state regulatory programs and accreditation requirements, as well as established organizational policies and procedures.

Electronic Prescribing (Imprivata / ePrescribe)

Electronic prescribing (eRx) for all medication types (including controlled substances) is now a required aim for Regulatory Incentive Programs.

To help providers meet this new law, all providers will be registered for eRx.

质量Improvement (QI)

QI serves as a resource for supporting excellent clinical performance by aligning with and supporting collaborative improvement activities across Banner Health. In addition to partnering with the Patient Safety, Peer Review and Regulatory teams; QI has linkage to system teams such as Infection Prevention, Clinical Performance Analytics, Process Engineering and Clinical Consensus Groups. The department proactively implements Banner franchise model/best practices and hospital-wide solutions in anticipation of quality and risk issues that may impact patient care.
